- Business Problem
- Early-career pediatric nurses and nurse practitioners new to emergency department triage tend to default to familiar workflows, such as history-taking, escalation, and medication, over the single most critical action. In a febrile infant under 90 days, the correct first action, full vital signs and monitoring, is frequently delayed in favor of more habitual steps.
- Business Solution
- A branching micro-scenario built with the 4C method (Characters, Context, Challenge, Consequences) at micro-scale: one case, one decision point, four response paths. Each incorrect choice maps to a named reasoning error, distraction, overtriage, or delay, and returns the learner to reselect with layered feedback. Answer choices unlock only after the narration finishes. Built in Articulate Storyline 360, with a design document and storyboard.
- Business Impact
- Built as a capability demonstration for a prospective healthcare client. A signed contract was the result.

The Work
Assessment Items and Standards
Contract work, Ascend Learning- Business Problem
- An item has to measure the skill it claims to measure, and its wrong answers have to do their job.
- Business Solution
- More than 125 Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) items authored to psychometric standards, with p-value and distractor analysis, plus construction and revision of the TEAS assessment standards.
- Business Impact
- Most recommendations on the TEAS assessment standards were accepted. The revised standards are in effect in 2026.
- Review Panels
- Appointed to Texas Education Agency (TEA) standards and item review committees and to the TEA and Pearson educator certification examination committee for Mathematics. Texas Mathematics Advisory Board Member for Glencoe Mathematics (McGraw-Hill/Glencoe), Grades 6 through Algebra 2: reviewed content prototypes and chapters for the Texas statewide adoption. My likeness appears in the published Texas textbooks.
- Business Problem
- A scored question that reports only right or wrong cannot tell a knowledge gap from a misconception.
- Business Solution
- A branching decision flow that diagnoses learner understanding and routes instruction by response accuracy: progress, reteach, redirect, or remediation. The four-path split aligns the instructional response to the precision of what the learner actually demonstrated. Fully incorrect answers route to remediation and return to the question for one retry. The logic is authoring-tool agnostic and has been applied in Articulate Storyline.
- Business Impact
- A missed question now reports what kind of miss it was, so reteaching targets the misconception and not only the wrong answer.
- Research Basis
- Ten peer-reviewed sources on corrective feedback, mastery learning, and conceptual change support routing by response accuracy.

- Business Problem
- An account executive has to recommend a solution strategy, tactical, strategic, or full-scope, based on a client's urgency, budget, and readiness.
- Business Solution
- A content map that takes a defined business problem through audience analysis, current and future state, four actions tied to the business goal, terminal and enabling learning objectives, and a five-question scenario assessment with feedback for correct and incorrect answers.
- Business Impact
- Every learning objective and assessment question traces back to the defined business goal, so the training teaches the decision the account executive actually has to make.
Additional Build
AI-Assisted Course Production
- Business Problem
- A seven-module Open edX program needed visually engaging, user-friendly course components, and those components were built with custom code.
- Business Solution
- Coached fellow instructional designers to generate code with ChatGPT that improved user interactions, made the platform more attractive to users, and added variety to how users engage. Built interactive Open edX components and quality reviewed 7 modules and more than 50 knowledge checks for accessibility and instructional sequencing.
- Business Impact
- Course production time dropped 25%, and the team finished the project one week ahead of schedule.
ERG Virtual Facilitation Skills
- Business Problem
- Employee Resource Group (ERG) leaders want virtual meetings that drive change, and passive presentations don't.
- Business Solution
- An Articulate Rise course created for a client to explain the purpose of an ERG. It covers setting clear objectives, engaging all voices, spotting disengagement, and ending every meeting with accountability.
- Business Impact
- Each session produces measurable outcomes and a documented leadership record.

Programs Run at Scale
FOCUS Community Program
Co-founded FOCUS (Faith, Obedience, Commitment, Unity, Sacrifice), a grant-funded program that served more than 150 learners. Created the curriculum, managed operations, and trained more than 30 Dow Chemical engineers and Plant Processors to deliver it across a multilingual, distributed workforce. The program reached a 93% completion rate.
150+ Learners, 30+ Mentors
93% Completion Rate
Citywide Summer Program, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Delivered pre-deployment training to 300+ program personnel assigned across 19 sites in a six-week summer program. Served as site administrator for one location and led 8 to 11 staff through daily team meetings, coaching, observation, and performance evaluation, where learners gained 11% in math and 13% in reading.
300+ Personnel, 19 Sites
Site Learners Gained 11% in Math and 13% in Reading
Kumon Franchise Center
Global franchisee and co-owner of a Kumon Math and Reading Center. Both owners worked across every part of the business, and the business side was mine to run.
Running it meant business operations, franchise compliance, and payroll, along with day-to-day customer relations with the families the center served.
Kumon sets the core curriculum, so the program itself was a given. The other curriculum pieces the center needed were put together by me. Local marketing was mine to run as well.
